A gentle opening hole ideally played with a safe drive to the left-hand side of the fairway, although a bolder shot to the right provides a better angle for the approach shot, but brings trees and dense heather into play. The green is protected by heather banks on the left side and a deep gully which runs across the fairway. Careful club selection is required to avoid these hazards and to hold the ball on a green that slopes from right to left.
