Piltdown is situated in a very picturesque part of East Sussex, and is surrounded by many local attractions and things to do when not on the golf course.

We are located just outside the Ashdown Forest. The Forest is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and was the inspiration to AA Milne when writing the Winnie the Pooh stories. To find out more about walks and activities available at Ashdown Forest please click here.

Another beautiful place to visit whilst in the Piltdown area is Sheffield Park and Gardens. This is a stunning National Trust Property and gardens. The garden was originally designed by Capability Brown, and a lot of his influence is still evident today. The local town of Lewes (10 minutes by car) has some great independent shops, tea rooms and places to eat. It is also the home of Harvey’s Brewery. Here you can go on a tour of the brewery which finishes with some “compulsory” testing of the products! They say “Unlike many tours of commercial premises, our brewery tour is not simply a walk around with a guide; it is a chance for us to meet our customers and give an insight to the heritage of brewing at Harvey’s. If you like your wine, then there are a couple of vineyards in Sussex, including the award winning Ridgeview in Ditchling. Their sparkling wine has many awards, and you can go on a tour of the vineyard to find out all about it. You will be hosted by an expert and will experience insights into the craft of creating their award-winning sparkling wines.
